There are loads of great songs about running, or with “run” in the title. This one (great harmonies, great weird guitar sounds, strange lyrics) or the song by the same name by The Who or Keep on Running (Stevie Winwood)..Born to Run, Run Away, loads.
I heard someone on the radio talking about “ranning“. It was n´t a cockney ( a Londoner) but a Spanish radio presenter. Cockneys pronounce u like a, so they say fun and fan the same as well. As I´v e said before in my blog, the use of English words in Spanish is not consistent. Why say “running” in Spanish, why not say what was said previously, another anglicism, “footing”? Is it to distinguish, as we used to in English between serious running (running) and those who do it just for fun (joggers and jogging?)? Why not call it Footeando or Pieando? or Correando?
Or maybe it´s just a moot point. What isn´t a moot point is the amount of idioms and phrasal verbs formed with run. Here are just a few:
run out of steam
trial run
run amok
run into someone
run out of something
To be running late
in the long run
